One-to-one guidance〜大学1年生のための学習サポート〜
2025.08.07 英語系
The Department of International English wants to make sure that our first-year students are doing well throughout their first semester of university life. That's why each student is assigned to a tutor, and we have weekly meetings with students face to face. Each student has different requirements so we tailor each session to the needs of each student.(国際英語学科では、教員が1年生と定期的に面談を行います。この一対一のガイダンスを通して、英語の学習や学生生活についてサポートを行います。)
As well as checking on the welfare of students, it is an opportunity for students and teachers to get to know each other better. It is also an opportunity for students to ask questions, explain any problems they are having, and also to analyze their strengths and weaknesses in their English studies. Each week we can work on the weaknesses and students can improve their English skills and their study know-how. For example, KN wanted to work on vocabulary as well as her English communication skills. From the one-to-one sessions, she said that she "can get a lot of vocabulary and some tips on how to study."

Another student, RT, said that she found the sessions useful and the main positive points were that "I can talk about university life" and "I don't notice my English mistakes when I speak and the teacher helps me by correcting my mistakes."(RTさんはこの面談のが、学生生活について話ができること、英語を話すときの間違いに気づくことができる点で役立っていると感じています。)

These may sound like very simple things, but the one-to-one sessions are a great way for students to ease their way into university life, and they are a wonderful way for teachers to understand the needs of each of the students on our campus.(こうして学生たちは、日々の積み重ねを継続しながら学生生活を充実させていきます。教員も一人一人の学生と向き合い学生のニーズを直に知ることができ、双方にとってよい機会になっています。)
