In September we hand out the latest STARS certificates to our students. Students in the Department of International English are awarded STARS certificates based on their scores in public English tests such as TOEIC or Eiken. YS is a first-year student who has made the most of the English-studying opportunities on campus, in addition to working hard on her own, and has been awarded a 3-STAR certificate. Very well done, YS. That is a tremendous effort during the first year of study at university. Congratulations to you, and to the other STARS award winners from throughout the department.

Our department students set goals for themselves and, just as YS has done, they are encouraged to find a variety of ways to improve their English levels. It is very important that our students find ways to make English a part of their everyday lives.

Good luck to YS with her next goal of getting the 4-STARS award, and after that she can aim for the top award of a 5-STAR certificate. Good luck to all our students in their English goals and keep gaining STARS as you go.
