国際英語学科2年のNTです。現地レポートの第2弾を作成しましたので、こちらから報告いたします。
As NT has written, this is the second report from California on what is turning out to be a wonderful study abroad experience.

2月13日に私たちはCommunity Montessori Powayという小学校に行きました。私たちは3つのグループに分かれて、低学年の子どもたち2グループと高学年の子どもたち1グループに日本の遊びを紹介しました。私たちのグループは高学年を担当して爆弾ゲームとフルーツバスケットを紹介して実際に子どもたちと遊びました。また、フルーツバスケットでは座って実践したり、子どもたちが自分たちで作った椅子を使用してゲームを行いました。その後、私たちはだるまさんが転んだというゲームをしました。今日は雨だったので外ではなく屋内で遊びました。

On February 13th, we went to an elementary school, Community Montessori Poway. We were divided into 3 groups and introduced
some Japanese games to students in two lower grades and one upper grade. We introduced the bomb game and fruit basket to the upper grade students and played together. We also played a fruit basket sitting version using chairs that they made. After that, we played red light green light. It is called だるまさんが転んだ in Japanese. Today, it was a rainy day so we played the game inside.

私たちは、普通のだるまさんが転んだタイプと座って足を伸ばして前に進むタイプの２つの方法で遊びました。なぜなら、子どもたちは前に進むのが早くて終わってしまうからです。その後、けん玉やアルプス一万尺をしました。私がアルプス一万尺を教えた後に子どもたちが私にアメリカのゲームを教えてくれました。私は緊張していましたが、子どもたちが私たちに興味を持って積極的に話しかけてくれたのでとても嬉しかったです。また、子どもたちが違うことをしていても先生が怒らないことに気づきました。この学校は個人の気持ちを尊重する教育をしているのだと感じ、このような学校が日本にとって大切で必要なのではないかと考えました。1人の女の子が手紙をくれたのでとても嬉しかったです。

We played the normal version and the sitting version with knees extended because their movements were so fast. After that, we played Kendama and  Yankee Doodle. Yankee Doodle is called アルプス一万尺 in Japanese. After teaching Yankee Doodle to some of the students, they taught me finger play in America. I was nervous, but they were interested in us and talked to us actively so I felt happy. I also noticed that a teacher didn’t get angry with them when they started to do other things. I felt the organization of the Community Montessori Poway is an education that respects individual feelings. So I thought that such a school is important and needs to be in Japan.  One girl wrote me a letter so I was so happy.

また、今日は雨だったので予定していたsunset marketから変更して、Westfield North Countyに行きました。この場所は広島にあるソレイユ(イオンモール広島府中)に似ているの感じました。私はお菓子のお土産とアクセサリーを買いました。店の多さに驚きました。初めて訪れる場所で刺激を受けました。また、私はアメリカでは個人が自由に表現できる場所があるから話せるのではないかと気づきました。今日は1日すべてが良い経験でした。

After going to the Community Montessori Poway elementary school, we went to Westfield North County. Although we were going to go to the sunset market, today’s weather was rainy, so we went to Westfield. It looks like ソレイユ in Hiroshima prefecture. I bought some souvenirs and some accessories. There were many kinds of stores, so I was surprised at the kinds of stores. It was my first time going there, so it was stimulating. I also noticed that Americans can talk because there is a place where they can express themselves freely. Today, everything was a good experience for me.
