この春、広島女学院大学では新しい学生だけでなく、新しい仲間の教員を迎えました。今回は、新任の教員をご紹介します。

Hi Everyone! I'm Mika Osaki, and I have just joined the Department of International English, during this beautiful time of the year with the cherry blossoms out.

A lecture on language skills by developing our vocabulary and understanding concepts through extensive reading

I used to teach at HJU in the past after returning to Japan from the United States, where I studied teaching methodologies in foreign languages at graduate school and taught in American schools. I have enjoyed exercising ever since I was a child. I went to the inter-high school tennis competition when I was in high school, having won second place in the Hiroshima Prefecture tournament. In my free time, I enjoy exercising, including playing tennis and badminton. I also enjoy exploring new places. I'm very pleased to be back and to meet my students and work with them.
（米国の大学院で外国語教授法を学び、アメリカの学校で教鞭をとり、帰国後は広島女学院大学で教える機会がありました。子どもの頃から運動が大好きで、高校生の時にはテニスで県大会2位となり、インターハイに出場しました。時間がある時は、テニスやバドミントンなどの運動をしたり、新しい場所を開拓することを楽しんでいます。今回、広島女学院大学に戻り、学生の皆さんとの新たな出会い、そして共に学ぶ機会をいただけたことを大変嬉しく思います。）

My speciality is teaching methodologies in foreign languages. I would like to help students become motivated and stimulated by learning. Since language is deeply connected to culture, it is essential to teach cultures as an important part of the language. I would like to help students to be global citizens by teaching international mindedness, drawing on my experience of living abroad, both as a teacher and as a student.
（私の専門分野は外国語教授法です。学生の皆さんが授業を通してさまざまな刺激を受け、英語を上達させたいという意欲を高めるお手伝いができればと願っています。言語はその文化の影響を強く受けているため、文化を知ることも言葉を学ぶ上で重要です。学生の皆さんには、異文化理解を深め、国際感覚を身につけ、英語でコミュニケーションをする喜びを肌で感じ、21世紀のグローバル社会で活躍できる女性になってもらいたいと期待しています。）
